JU students go berserk

Vandalism on campus protesting death of a student for negligence

Jahangirnagar University students vandalised the residents of vice chancellor, university treasurer, Maulana Bhashani Hall provost and the medical centre following death of a fellow student last night.
They alleged that the student died due to the alleged negligence of the medical centre.
The deceased was identified as Md Malek, a student of outgoing batch of the statistics department.
Malek went to the medical centre around 8:00pm after he fell sick, Md Khabir Uddin, provost of the hall, said.
He was immediately referred to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar. But, due to the unavailability of ambulance, he had to wait for an hour, students claimed.
Malek was pronounced dead after he was rushed to the hospital.
When his body was brought to the campus, students went berserk and started vandalising the residents of the university teachers, the provost added.
