Army takes charge of Bahaddarhat flyover work

Three months after the Bahaddarhat flyover partially collapsed, Bangladesh Army yesterday took over the charge of supervising the remaining construction work of the flyover.
On November 24 last year, 12 people were killed as three concrete girders of the flyover collapsed in Bahaddarhat of Chittagong.
Bangladesh Army and Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the matter at CDA office yesterday and visited the site at Bahaddarhat intersection.
Brig Gen Shamsul Alam Khan, head of Special Works Organisation (SWO) of Chittagong cantonment, said the remaining 20 percent of the construction work would be completed by June 2013.
Mir Akhter Hossain Ltd would lead the construction work alone as Parisha, a partner of joint venture company Mir Akhter- Parisha which was entrusted before, has been excluded from the project due to its little experience.
