Tanuk, Shiba win amateur golf titles

Karan Tanuk of India romped to victory in the Runner Group 28th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championships which concluded at the Kurmitola Golf Club yesterday.
The Indian amateur star played a level-par (72) in the last round to settle for an aggregate of seven-under-par (281) score. Bangladesh's Sajib Ali finished at a distant second with level-par (288) after he managed only a two-over-par (74) in the last round.
Mohammad Sagor and Mohammad Nazim of Bangladesh ended up 3rd and 4th respectively.
In the ladies singles category, Nasima Akhter Shiba of Bangladesh won the title while her compatriot Auronee secured runner-up position. The two women also paired up to win the ladies' team event title.
Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism lieutenant colonel Muhammad Faruk Khan (retd) gave away the prizes among the winners. The chief of army staff and president of Bangladesh Golf Federation General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan was also present.
