Bomang Raja passes away

Raja Kasine Prue Chowdhury, chief of Bomang Circle, passed away at his royal palace after suffering a cardiac arrest early yesterday. He was 80.
He left behind his wife, two sons, five daughters, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His funeral will be held on February 22, family members said.
Kasine Prue was the sixteenth king of the royal family, reports our Bandarban correspondent.
He was crowned as Bomang chief on November 20 following the death of the circle's fifteenth king Aung Shai Prue on August 8 last year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday expressed deep shock at the death of Kasine Prue.
In a condolence message, the premier said the nation has lost a social worker and a brilliant son of the soil.
She prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members, reports BSS.
In the history of Bomang royal family, KS Prue Chowdhury's reign lasted only two months and 16 days, and he had celebrated his first Raj Punnha festival on January 3.
The next chief of Bomang Circle has not been declared yet. The Raja is usually nominated from the royal family on the basis of seniority.
Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing MP, chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Development Board, Dipankar Talukder, state minister for CHT Affairs ministry, Nabo Bikram Kishor Tripura, among others, sent condolence messages at the death of the Bomang Raja.
