Monir held for acid attack on Eden girl

Law enforcers in Rangamati yesterday arrested Monir Uddin on charge of throwing acid on Eden College student Sharmin Akter Ankhi eight days ago.
Sources in Detective Branch (DB) said a DB team from the capital arrested Monir at Kurkutichhari in Barkol upazila of the hill district with the help of Ansar members around 10:00am.
The arrestee confessed to his guilt, said detectives.
Monir with his friend Masum on January 15 forcibly took Ankhi to a marriage registrar's office in the capital's Chankharpool. As she refused to marry Monir, the two threw acid on her and stabbed her.

The same day, victim's brother filed a case accusing the two for the attack. Ankhi is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
