Amendment proposal rejected

The proposed amendment to the constitution of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) was rejected at its executive committee meeting at the federation office yesterday.
The amendment, prepared by the Constitution Amendment Committee aimed at barring entry to inexperienced organisers at the federation's chief positions, was rejected by the EC, said the federation's vice-president Sajed AA Adel.
“The proposal was not aimed at barring any particular person, rather it was to bar inexperienced organisers from the governing body, for the greater good of the game,” said Adel who is also a member of the Constitution Amendment Committee.
The proposed amendment required general secretary candidates to have at least four years' involvement with the hockey federation while joint secretary candidates have to have three years of involvement to be eligible to contest in the next polls.
The rejection of the proposal means any organiser can contest in those positions, regardless of whether they had any prior involvement with the federation.
