Dhaka eliminated

Dhaka City team were eliminated from the World Cities Team Chess Championship on Tuesday when they suffered defeat against Saratov city of Russia in their first match of the knockout phase at Al-Ain Sports Complex, United Arab Emirates.
Dhaka conceded a 3.5-0.5 defeat to Saratov with GM Niaz Murshed only managing a draw against GM Evgeny Tomashevsky in the four boards. GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Minhazuddin Ahmed Sagor and FM Debaraj Chatterjee lost their respective matches against GM Lysyj Igor, GM Romanov Evgeny and GM Evgeny Shaposhnikov.
Cities from Russia, Netherlands, Sweden, Uzbekistan, China, Greece, Azerbaijan and Serbia qualified for the quarterfinals.
