Maiden Mania
Kieron Powell opened his innings with two consecutive boundaries off Shafiul Islam in the second over of the innings and it seemed as though the ball was coming on to the bat quite well. However, his wicket in the very next over led to five consecutive maiden overs – the fourth to eighth. Shafiul finished the innings with four maidens, his highest in limited overs cricket.
Pollard's power
Kieron Pollard came to bat with his team reeling at 17 for 3. Having unsuccessfully followed a more cautious approach in the previous games Pollard employed a completely opposite strategy. He took the attack to the bowlers and hit eight sixes, two short of his highest in an innings. He was particularly brutal with the slow left-armers. His partnership with Bravo which yielded 132 runs was the highest fourth-wicket stand against Bangladesh.
Mominul magic
With Pollard going berserk with the bat, captain Mushfiqur Rahim had no other choice but to bring a new bowler into the attack, and the change immediately paid off. Mominul Haque hit the timber in his very first over as Pollard missed a ball that stayed low. He also got the wicket of Darren Sammy in his very next over as the visiting captain edged one to the slips.
