JCD calls for hartal today in Rangamati

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal will enforce a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Rangamati district today protesting the murder of a leader and an activist of the student body.
Ching Khai Mong Marma, 20, son of Paiching Marma, and Paithui Marma, 21, son of Mong Shing Marma, were badly injured after being beaten up by Uijanu Marma and her relatives in an altercation at Sonaichhari village of Kawkhali upazila on Sunday evening, reports our Rangamati correspondent, quoting Kawkhali police.
The duo succumbed to their injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) the following evening.
Announcing the hartal at a rally before the district JCD headquarters in the town's Kathaltali yesterday, JCD district unit president Abu Shahadat Sayem alleged that activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were involved in the homicide.
He claimed Ching was the president and Paithui was a member of the ward No 5 JCD unit under Betbunia Union Parishad.
Autopsies were carried out on the bodies at the CMCH. Later police handed over the bodies to the family members of the victims.
No case was lodged in this connection till filing of this report at 10:30pm yesterday.
