Ashura on Nov 25

The holy Ashura will be observed across the country on November 25, as the moon of Muharram month was sighted yesterday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation conference room with its Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal in the chair, said a PID handout.
Mohammad Bajlur Rahman, joint secretary of the information ministry, Hasan Jahangir Alam, joint secretary of the religious affairs ministry, Khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana M Salah Uddin, among others, were present.
Ashura is observed on the 10th Muharram to commemorate the Karbala tragedy in which Hazrat Imam Hossain (RA) along with his family members and followers embraced martyrdom.
The day is a public holiday.
