Ensure security of Parag, family

The High Court yesterday directed the government to provide extra security to six-year-old Parag Mondol, who had been rescued three days after his abduction from Keraniganj, and his family until further orders.
Responding to a petition, the court also issued a rule upon the government to explain in 12 days why it should not be directed to ensure security and protection of Parag and the family.
Secretary to the ministry of home affairs, inspector general of police (IGP), deputy commissioner of Dhaka, director general of the Rapid Action Battalion and its director (intelligence wing), commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, deputy IGP, Dhaka range; superintendent of police of Dhaka, and officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Police Station were made respondents to the rule and order.
During the hearing on the petition filed by Nazim Ahmed, editor of weekly Shoptoporno, the HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik and Justice Farid Ahmed appreciated the government move to recover the schoolboy from the custody of abductors and to arrest some suspected criminals.
Justice Manik said the government had reportedly made a very sincere move to recover Parag unhurt and expressed hope that it would also be sincere in preventing such criminal activities in future.
Advocate Eunus Ali Akond appeared for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder represented the government.
Criminals on November 11 abducted Parag, shooting his mother, sister and the driver of their car at Shuvadda Paschim Para in Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital.
The boy was found at Atibazar in the locality in the early hours of Wednesday.
