Dhaka attaches great importance to bilateral ties with neighbours

A delegation of the National Defence College (NDC) of India, led by Air Vice Marshal Shanker Mani, called on President Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban in the city yesterday.
The delegation members apprised the president of their activities and objectives of the visit.
Welcoming the 16-member delegation, the president exchanged pleasantries with them and expressed satisfaction at their visit to Bangladesh.
He told the delegation that as a friendly country, “Bangladesh attaches great importance to its bilateral relations with other neighboring countries”.
He said the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and other friendly countries, including Saarc members, “are excellent and it would be further strengthened and deepened in the days to come”.
He stressed the need for enhancing such type of visit programme to the mutual benefit of the participating countries.
Iajuddin hoped that it would help increase professional skill of the participants and the bonds of friendship tighten among the participating countries.
The delegation explained the activities of the National Defence College, India.
The delegation, at the rank of Colonel to Major General, comprises the members of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, Sri Lankan Army, Ugandan Defence Force, Nigerian Army and three other senior civil officials of India.
Military Secretary to the President Major General M Aminul Karim, Secretary to the President's Office M Sirajul Islam and press secretary to the President Abdul Awal Howlader and officials concerned were present.
