Brac Bank MD Imran passes away


Imran Rahman, managing director and CEO of Brac Bank Limited, passed away due to a cardiac arrest in Canada in the early hours of yesterday at the age of 45, says a press release.
Imran was appointed managing director and CEO of the bank on May 3 in 2006. Earlier, he served as the deputy managing director of the bank. Having joined the bank as MD, he was instrumental in developing the brand and its rapid growth in all its lines of business. Prior to joining the bank, Imran was head of distribution and wealth management of Standard Chartered Bank. He started his banking career as a management trainee with ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1987.
Imran is survived by his wife, daughter, son, mother and three brothers.
Brac Bank Limited joins his family in mourning his tragic and untimely demise.
Citibank, NA, Bangladesh condoled the death of Imran Rahman.
In a message of condolence, Mamun Rashid, managing director and Citi country officer, Bangladesh, said the nation has lost a sincere banker whose contribution to the banking industry should always be remembered.
He also conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for salvation of the departed soul.
