BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday broke down in tears on seeing the body of her younger brother, Maj (retd) Sayeed Iskander, who died in a New York hospital on September 23.
The former BNP lawmaker from Feni-1 constituency was buried at Banani military graveyard.
The body, arriving in Dhaka in the morning, was first taken to his Baridhara Park Road residence where Khaleda and their family were present.
Afterwards, the first namaz-e-janaza was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban's south plaza, attended by the deputy speaker and chief whip of parliament. A police contingent accorded guard of honor to the freedom fighter.
The second was held before the party's Nayapaltan office as Iskander was BNP's Feni district president and the last at Gulshan Azad Mosque.
BNP offices kept the party flag at half-mast and hoisted black flags.
