BSF kills four on Thakurgaon Satkhira, borders

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead four Bangladeshi cattle traders near Rudrapur border in Satkhira district and on Hetagachhi border in Thakurgaon district early yesterday, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) sources said.
The dead were identified as Amjad Ali, 36, of Rudrapur village and Hasan alias Nafor, 28, of Bhabanipur village in Sharsha upazila of Satkhira, and Afsaruddin, 28, of Barsa village and Faruk Hossain, 25, of Kashibari village in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon.
Our Satkhira correspondent reported that Amjad and Nafor were gunned down at border village Tentultala under Swarupnagar Police Station of North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, at around 4:30am. They reached the village along with cattle to back home, according to a message received from across the border.
When contacted, Major Kamrul Hasan, operations officer 41 Rifles Battalion, confirmed the killing of the two cattle traders by the Indian border guards.
BDR sent a letter to its Indian counterpart protesting the killing and demanding return of the bodies.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds: The BSF personnel of Sonamoti camp opened fire on a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders when they reached Hetagachhi border to enter India at about 4:00am, killing Afsar and Faruk on the spot and injuring another.
The bullet-hit, Fajir, somehow managed to return home and was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Officials of 20 Rifles Battalion protested the killing through a letter sent to the BSF and demanded return of the bodies.
