BNP blames govt for unrest

President of Chittagong city unit BNP, Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, here yesterday blamed the administration for creating unrest in the country and said the miscreants were taking the advantage of this instability for doing destructive activities.
Speaking at a press conference, he also alleged that the administration was creating obstruction to their democratic programmes. The conference was jointly organised by Chittagong city unit and north and south district units of BNP at Chittagong Press Club.
Mentioning that BNP has not been allowed to use the Laldighi ground for organising Sunday's (today) rally, he said, “We learned that police had instructed the authorities of Chittagong Government Muslim High School and Laldighi Maidan not to allow BNP or its allies to hold rally in those places”.
No administration could snatch people's democratic rights, the BNP leader said, and urged the government to act democratically for the sake of the country and its people.
He also alleged that police filed false cases against the leaders and activists of BNP and 18-party alliance.
Former state minister and BNP central leader Jafarul Islam Chowdhury, former whip Syed Wahidul Alam, former lawmaker Begum Rosy Kabir, and Shamsul Alam were present, among others, at the press conference.
