8 personalities, organisations to get Nawab Ali Chy award

Eight personalities and organisations have been selected for the prestigious 'Nawab Ali Chowdhury National Award-2012' for their outstanding contributions in different fields.
On the occasion of the 83rd death anniversary of Nawab Bahadur Nawab Ali Chowdhury, the awards will be given to the recipients today, said a press release.
The award recipients under various categories are - late Lutful Hai Sacchu, MP (Freedom Fighter), Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Atiur Rahman (Banking and Finance), Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star Mahfuz Anam (Journalism), Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (Poverty Alleviation), President of BASIS Mahboob Zaman (ICT), Country Director of Action Aid Farah Kabir (Women Empowerment), Notre Dame College (Education) and Shakib Al Hasan, player of Bangladesh Cricket team (Sports).
