Party men blame Jubo League, burn five houses

Criminals hacked to death a student of Pabna Textile Engineering College, also an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna, yesterday allegedly as a sequel to internal conflict in the ruling party.
Criminals beat up and hacked Mostafa Kamal Shanto, 20, son of Abul Kalam Azad of Mushriapara village, at Madrasa More on Ishwardi Hospital Road when he was going to the college at about 10:00am, Ishwardi police station officer in charge Kazi Haniful Islam quoted the locals and family memberse as saying.
"Critically injured Shanto was taken to Ishwardi upazila health complex where he died. Police sent the victim's body to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said.
It seems Shanto was killed over internal conflict among the ruling party factions, he added.
“My son went out from home at about 9:30am, saying that he will go to Pabna Textile Engineering College for appearing at an examination but later we learnt that criminals killed him on Hospital Road,” said Rebeka Sultana Rina, mother of the victim.
Ishwardi upazila unit BCL President Md Jobayer Bishwas said the criminals who are in the guise of political activists killed Shanto, an activist of Ishwardi upazila unit of BCL.
Agitated BCL activists brought out a procession in the upazila headquarters demanding punishment to the killers.
They set fire to the houses of Ruhul Amin Kuddus, publicity secretary of Ishwardi municipality unit of Jubo League and its activists Sohel, Rubel, Wasin and Al Amin in Ishwardi municipality area.
Fire fighters later controlled the fire after struggling for two hours.
"Some Jubo League men tried to influence the BCL committee. Shanto, a supporter of Jobayer in the BCL committee, protested the interference. Angered by this, the criminals committed the brutal murder," said Ishwardi upazila BCL activist Shaon, also a close friend of the victim.
