Bonna Mirza @DS Café
A complete actress in every regard, Bonna Mirza is capable of dissolving into any character she portrays. Beginning with theatre, she soon became a popular face on TV. She has appeared on the silver screen as well. The talented actress recently came over to DS Café to speak to her fans.
Neon, Khulna: Personal or professional -- which life do you enjoy more?
Bonna: Off or on camera, both are me and I enjoy both. Acting does have its perks though. I don't think any other profession could fetch me so much love and affection.
Sagar Chowdhury, Sylhet: Which is your favourite role?
Bonna: I have several. I only take on projects that appeal to me. Each character I play is special. I don't want to single out a role.
The Daily Star (TDS): Do you have an idol whom you try to emulate?
Bonna: No, I don't follow anyone. I believe that one cannot go far by following others.
Nusrat, Dhaka: What inspired you to take up acting?
Bonna: I felt that acting is at the centre of all performing arts. Dancing, singing, reciting -- what doesn't acting involve? So, I decided to focus on acting.
Ripon, Tangail: Was becoming an actress your childhood dream?
Bonna: No, I developed a passion for acting as I grew up.
Lonny, Dhaka: Do you have any plan of opening a drama school?
Bonna: No, I don't have any such plan. Thanks for appreciating my acting.
Sohel, Tangail: Who/what was your first love?
Bonna: My first love was poetry. Later, I also gave my heart to music and theatre -- both of which I treasure equally.
Al Amin, Dhaka: Is there any unfulfilled dream? What is your favourite colour?
Bonna: I don't have any wish that hasn't been fulfilled. I like different shades of green.
Monir, Rajbari: Where is your native home? How far did you study?
Bonna: My native home is in Kushtia. I've earned a masters degree from the Department of Theatre, DU.
Nupur, Syhlet: How did you step into the media?
Bonna: I used to be involved with theatre and gradually shifted towards TV plays. While working on the stage, I felt that to attain wider recognition I have to be on TV. Gradually, I wanted to reach out to an even bigger audience, so I worked in a movie.
Habib, Khulna: What is the secret of achieving success?
Bonna: There is no easy method you see. Each person has to find his/her own way. Determination and hard work are mandatory. One cannot force his/her way into success.
Tuhin, Dhaka: Who are your favourite actors?
Bonna: I like the works of all my co-actors. I don't dislike anyone.
Towhid, Comilla: Many actors nowadays fumble when delivering dialogues. Why is that?
Bonna: Errors do happen, however repeated mistakes are not expected of anyone. Those who sometimes fumble, need to be more careful.
Jahangir, Mymensingh: What does your husband do? Is he in the media?
Bonna: My husband is a teacher at the Jahangirnagar University.
Tamanna, Gazipur: Which is your favourite play?
Bonna: “Rowd Mekho Shurjomukhi”.
TDS: Who are the directors you enjoy working with?
Bonna: We have some very talented directors. Masud Hasan Ujjal, Animesh Aich, Mezbaur Rahman Sumon are among my favourites.
Shaila, Bijoynagar: If you wake up to realise that you have turned into someone else, what would you do?
Bonna: That would be scary! If I do become someone else, I will start everything fresh.
TDS: How committed are you towards acting?
Bonna: Without a doubt, I can say that I am completely dedicated. When I'm acting, it is the only thing on my mind. I try my best to produce something good. To what extent I'm capable of doing that is for the audience to decide.
