AL picks 5 for JS women's seats

Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) last night finalised five candidates for as many women's reserved seats in parliament, party sources said.
The candidates are journalist and columnist Baby Moudud, Women Affairs Secretary of AL Fazilatunnesa Indira, President of Chittagong Mahila Awami League (South) Hasina Mannan, acting secretary of Mahila AL Pinu Khan and Joint Secretary of Jubo Mahila League Fazilatunnesa Bappi.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired an ALPB meeting at Gono Bhaban to decide about the party's nominees.
A total of 179 MP aspirants bought party's nomination papers to contest for the reserved seats.
The number of women's reserved seats has been increased to 50 from 45 through the 15th amendment to the constitution on June 30.
