Hikma chief sent to jail

The court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Rajshahi yesterday sent the outlawed Shahadat-e Al Hikma chief Sayed Kawsar Hussain Siddiki to jail custody in connection with a sedition case against him.
The sedition case was filed against Kawsar on April 13, 2005 for his involvement in militant activities.
Kawsar was absconding for last three years in the case as the arrest warrant against him went missing since it was issued in July 2008, sources said.
However, police submitted a 10-day remand prayer against him with the third Metropolitan Magistrate Court in connection with a cheating case filed with Rajpara Police Station in the city on Tuesday night.
Mohammad Jony of Sultanabad area in the city filed the cheating case.
