RU MCJ dept celebration begins today

A two-day long programme of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) department of Rajshahi University (RU) begins on the campus today to celebrate its 20th founding anniversary.
The department has chalked out an elaborate programme, including rally, seminars, photo exhibition, blood donation, raffle draw, cricket match and cultural soirees, marking the day.
MCJ department and Journalism Alumni Forum of Rajshahi University (Jafru) are jointly organising the event.
Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandoker will inaugurate the programme at RU Senate Bhaban at 9:00am as the chief guest. Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Lawmakers Fazle Hossain Badsha, Shahriar Alam and Shaheen Monwara Haque will also present.
Later, teachers and present and former students of the department along with guests will bring out a colourful procession at 11:00am.
A seminar on Mass media and journalism culture in Bangladesh will also be held on the campus at 3:00pm. Director General of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Prof Dulal Chandra Biswas will present the key note paper while The Daily Independent Editor Mahbubul Alam, The News Today Editor Riaz Uddin, journalist and columnist Abed Khan, Amader Somoy Editor Naimul Islam Khan, Daily Sakaler Khabar Editor AKM Rashid Un Nabi and Daily Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shamol Datta will be present as panel speakers at the seminar. Dhaka University journalism dept teacher Prof Dr Golam Rahman will preside over it.
