Tangail KSJL sues 57 AL men

Tangail district unit of Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) yesterday sued 57 Awami League men of Kalihati upazila for their alleged remarks against KSJL chief Abdul Kader Siddiqui Bir Uttam, branding him as a razakar.
Moloy Kumar Saha, KSJL district unit office secretary, filed the case against seven identified and 50 unidentified AL men with Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court, Tangail.
The identified accused are Kalihati Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman and local AL leader Anwar Hossain Molla, upazila AL President Mozaharul Islam Thandu, Durgapur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman and union AL leader Siraj Miah, former chairman of Salla UP Abdul Malek, and AL activists Abdul Majid Tota, Joynal Abedin and Rafiqul Islam.
After hearing, Judge Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque ordered the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalihati Police Station to accept the case as an FIR, court sources said. A total of 11 people have been made witnesses in the case, sources added.
According to the case statement, Kalihati upazila unit of KSJL organised a meeting on the premises of Poshna Primary School at Palima in Kalihati upazila on July 9, but could not hold the meeting due to restrictions imposed by the local administration.
When the KSJL men were leaving the meeting venue, the accused with lethal weapons swooped on them and also intercepted the motorcade of Kader Siddiqui at Palima bus stand near the meeting venue, the complainant said.
The AL men chanted objectionable slogans like “Kader Siddiqui Razakar, Ei Muhurtey Bangla Chhar,” the stated in the statement, adding that they (AL men) also opened fire when the KSJL workers came forward to resist them.
