Anandadhara and 2000 celebrate 13th anniversary

Popular weekly socio-political magazine 'Shaptahik 2000' and the leading fortnightly entertainment magazine of the country, 'Anandadhara', have completed 13 years. Marking the occasion, a celebration was held yesterday at The Daily Star Centre on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue. Celebrities and noted personalities including writers, filmmakers, actors, singers, TV show hosts as well as readers and well wishers attended the anniversary programme.
Acting editor of 'Anandadhara', Arun Chowdhury, and editor of 'Shaptahik 2000', Moinul Ahsan Saber, welcomed the guests. Among other dignitaries, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and editor of The Daily Star, Mahfuz Anam, attended the celebration.
Starting from 12pm, the celebration went on till 7pm. The magazines' staff expressed their gratitude to the readers, contributors, advertisers and well wishers for their sincere support over the years.
A vibrant cultural programme was the highlight of the celebration.
Composer-singer Ibrar Tipu and Kona sang "O Prithibi Ebar Eshey Bangla Ke Nao Chiney”, a song that attained much popularity during the ICC World Cup Cricket tournament. Singer Asif Akbar with others rendered the evergreen number "Abar Elo Je Shondhya", while Arfin Rumey performed "Joley Otho Bangladesh" (also released on the occasion of this year's ICC World Cup). Rinku rendered the baul song “Chander Gaye Chand”.
Internationally recognised magician Jewel Aich; singers Fahmida Nabi and Subir Nandi; TV actors Azizul Hakim, Mahfuz Ahmed, Shanta Islam and Momo; TV play director Chayanika Chowdhury and film actor Ferdaus also joined in the celebration.
Both 'Anandadhara' and 'Shaptahik 2000' started their journey in 1998. The late Shahadat Chowdhury was the founding editor of both magazines. Since their inception, the magazines have attained leading positions in their respective fields through authentic, sincere and in depth news coverage.
