Call to change attitude to end Indo-Bangla border crisis

Bangladesh and India must change their political mindsets to resolve the border crisis, said speakers to a seminar at Chittagong University yesterday.
The seminar titled "Bangladesh-India Border Relations" was organised by South Asia Youth for Peace and Prosperity Society (SAYPPS) at CU's social sciences faculty.
The speakers said Bangladesh should no be apathetic to India, as no country can be developed without cooperative relations with the neighbour states.
A legal body, they said, can be formed that will guide both the authorities for stopping border killing by BSF, human trafficking, and peddling and smuggling of drugs.
Connectivity as well as cross-border trade should be increased to avoid border smuggling, they suggested.
Dr Abdullah Al Faruque, associate professor of law department of CU, presented the keynote paper in the seminar.
Prof Jyoti Prakash Dutta, dean of social sciences faculty, attended the seminar as the chief guest with SM Monirul Hassan, president of SAYPPS CU chapter and associate professor of sociology department, in the chair.
