Ex-dy minister Abdus Salam Pintu held

The joint forces last night arrested former deputy minister for education Abdus Salam Pintu at a hotel in the city's Banani area.
Intelligence sources said the law enforcers arrested Pintu at about 8:30pm on information that he was hiding in that hotel under the Gulshan Police Station.
Earlier, a Dhaka court issued a warrant for the arrest of Pintu's brother Moulana Taijuddin in connection with the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League (AL) rally on Bangabandhu Avenue.
Interpol also issued a red notice on its website against Taijuddin.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) said it was investigating if Pintu has any involvement in the August 21 carnage.
Both the brothers went into hiding soon after the emergency rules were imposed.
SMAK Azad, director of the Legal and Media Wing of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), said he heard about Pintu's arrest but the Rab did not arrest him.
As of 12:15am, Gulshan police said the former deputy minister was not handed over to them.
