Non-govt Teachers' Registration

19.34pc pass in exam

The result of the sixth Non-government Teachers' Registration Examination was published yesterday with 19.34 percent pass rate.
A total of 42,641 candidates out of 2,20,517 passed in the examination held under Non-government Teachers Registration and Certificate Authority (NTRCA) on December 10-11 last year.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the result at a press briefing at the secretariat yesterday.
Among those qualifying, 27,361 passed in high school level and 15,280 in college level.
Nahid said the government would build an organisation that would deal with teacher recruitment and training in future.
“Like the Public Service Commission (PSC), we will build an organisation which would recruit teachers and provide them training in future. We have already started our work in this regard.”
The NTRCA, which the government has modernised, however, would act as certification organisation until the new organisation is established, said the minister.
The NTRCA was formed against the backdrop that the managing committees of the private educational institutions in most cases failed to appoint standard teachers, he said.
“The certificate authority [NTRCA] is an organisation which just set the standard. Any private organisation which wants to appoint teachers will have to recruit from the list who passed in registration examination by the NTRCA.”
The minister also said since the beginning of the registration examination in 2005, the NTRCA arranged six registration examinations and one special examination.
In the last six examinations, a total of 1,43,902 candidates out of 4,48,950 passed, he said. “We have got many competent teachers from the exams.”
The schools and colleges are facing teacher crisis for long and these candidates can be recruited there, he said, adding that there will be necessity of recruiting teachers in future as many teachers will go for retirement.
The result would be available on the NTRCA's website: www.ntrca.gov.bd. The candidates can also get their results on www.ntrca.teletalk.com.bd.
