Mahbuba Islam Rakhi has wrested the title of Lux Channel i Superstar 2010, against stiff competition from thousands of girls. She was awarded a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer, a role in an upcoming film, and a scholarship to study acting. The first and second runners up received cash prizes of Taka 3 lakh and Taka 1 lakh respectively. The awards were conferred on them by the Chairman of Unilever and Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Channel i.
The award giving ceremony was held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on January 24.
Though thousands of hopefuls signed up for the competition, only five stayed the course after rigorous selection rounds in the last three months. Video clips of the various rounds of the competition were screened at the ceremony. Popular cultural icons like Aly Zaker, Toukir Ahmed, Subarna Mustafa, Afsana Mimi, and Nobel presided as judges of the contest.
Bappa Majumdar, Arthohin, Cryptic Fate and Miles performed some of their most popular songs.
