Stop creating plots on park in Jessore: HC

The High Court yesterday directed the government to stop for three months creating new residential and commercial plots in a park of a housing estate in the suburb of the Jessore district town.
It also asked the government to explain in four weeks why its move to create residential and commercial plots by converting the park of Jessore Housing Estate under Uposhohor of Jessore Sadar upazila should not be declared illegal.
National Housing Authority has taken the move in July last to create commercial plots by converting the park.
A division bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain issued the rule in response to a writ petition by Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers' Association.
