My father was not razakar

Says AL lawmaker Aslamul

Awami League (AL) lawmaker Aslamul Haque yesterday protested a section of media for reporting that his father Enamul Haque was a razakar in 1971.
Mozaffar Hossain Khan, who filed a petition case with Dhaka Chief Judicial court on July 17, 2007, on Saturday informed investigating agency of International Crimes Tribunal that Enamul was a razakar leader.
Members of the investigating agency on Saturday visited a number of spots in Keraniganj where mass killing, looting and gang rapes occurred during the War of Liberation.
The report was published by some newspapers and broadcast on electronic media.
“My father was not razakar. If anybody can provide evidence in this regard, I will help hand him over to police,” said Aslamul, elected to parliament from Dhaka-14 constituency, at a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
He alleged that a vested quarter is plotting conspiracy against him and his father to tarnish their image in society.
Aslamul said he contacted plaintiff Mozaffar to know about it but Mozaffar said he does not know his father.
“I condemn the media report,” Aslamul said.
Mirpur AL leaders were present at the press conference.
