Govt housing projects in two districts in progress

The government is developing housing projects at Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district and Manikdi mouza in Gopalganj district for the middle and low-income group people.
National Housing Authority (NHA), a state-owned organisation, is developing the housing projects and constructing apartments to ease accommodation crisis and increase civic facilities at upazila and district level.
NHA Executive Engineer, Khulna division Md Sayeed Reza told the news agency that they had taken the projects for 64 districts to ensure accommodation for all by 2015 as part of government initiative to implement its vision 2021.
In Shibchar upazila, the project area covers 20 acres of land, where residential plots and apartments of different sizes with all necessary urban facilities, including school, colleges, hospitals mosques and play-ground, will be made available.
In the first phase, 159 residential plots will be developed and the land development work is expected to complete by June 2012. Of the 159 ,the size of 80 plots will be of five katha each and the rest three katha each. The price of per katha has been fixed at Tk 1.65 lakh.
In the second phase, the number of residential plots will be 171. Of those 82 will be five katha in size and the rest 89 three katha and the price will be Tk 1.70 lakh per katha.
In the third phase,80 apartments of two categories 1,250 and 1,000 sft housed in eight buildings will be constructed. The price of 1250 sft apartment is Tk 35 lakh and 1,000 sft Tk 30 lakh.
In Gopalganj, Development Project Profile (DPP) to develop the housing project on 20 acres of land at a cost of Tk19.80 crore was passed by the government a few days back.
The project site is located at Manikdi mouza, one and half kilometres off the district headquarters. The number of residential plots will be 319 and land development work is expected to start early next year.
Out of total plots, the size 40 plots will be of five katha each , 108 plots of three katha each ,71 plots of two and a half katha and the rest will be of two katha each.
