BCL activists assault 2 JCD men at Sylhet Agri University

Two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Sylhet Agriculture University (SAU) unit were seriously injured in an attack by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men on the campus early yesterday.
The victims--Mahmudul Islam Mamun and Shariful Islam Junayed--were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
Campus sources said Mahmud and Sharif, students of Veterinary and Animal Science department, refused to join a BCL procession on the campus Saturday afternoon.
BCL SAU unit President Abdullah Al Masum, General secretary Faruque, BCL Hason Raja Hall unit President Nizam Uddin and activists Mamun and Arafat beat up the two in room No 304 at the hall at around 12:30am for not complying with BCL men's instruction to join the procession.
They also hit Mahmud and Sharif with sharp weapons and iron rods. Seriously injured JCD activists were rushed to the medical college hospital. police have been deployed on the campus following the incident.
Rokanuzzaman Bappi, convenor JCD university unit, has demanded punishment to the BCL men who attacked the JCD activists.
Contacted, Proctor Dr Anwar Hossain said a probe committee is being formed and actions will be taken against the persons responsible for the attack.
