Director Abu Sayeed's award-winning film “Rupantar” will be screened at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival to be held in Mumbai later this month.
“Rupantar”, starring Jayanta Chattodpadhyay, Ferdaus and Shakiba among others, will be shown in the Spectrum section of the festival and is the only entry from Bangladesh.
Sayeed told The Daily Star that he is likely to be present in Mumbai during the festival to introduce his film as he had done five years ago to usher in his previous movie “Sankhanad” in India's entertainment capital.
Sayeed is familiar with Indian audience as his previous films, including “Nirontor” which had won a special jury award in the International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2006, were shown in different cities of the country.
Asked how it felt to have his film being screened to the audience in Mumbai for the second time, Sayeed said, “I hope the people of Mumbai appreciate 'Rupantar'.”
“Rupantar” had won the award for best film for tribals in the Bhopal International Festival last year.
