Argument in Sunamganj grenade attack case Oct 12

Sylhet Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam yesterday fixed October 12 for argument in the cases filed after grenade attack on a rally of AL leader Suranjit Sengupta MP in Sunamganj in 2004.
On September 15, the judge recorded the deposition of seven police inspectors who had served as investigation officers in the cases.
Two cases, one for the murder and another under Explosive substances Act, were filed after the grenade attack on the rally at Derai upazila headquarters on June 21, 2004.
The same court on June 30 this year framed charges against the accused and started recording the depositions on July 13, court sources said.
AL activist Abdul Wahid, 45, was killed and over 30 others were injured as a grenade was hurled on the dais. AL leader Suranjit Sengupta MP escaped unhurt as he got down from the dais just moments ahead of the attack.
