Musical soiree ‘Pran-er Khela’ at Bengal Gallery

This month's instalment of the musical programme 'Praner Khala' featured renowned Nazrul Sangeet artiste Sujit Mustafa and 'Bengal Bikash' finalist Shimu Rani Dey. The programme was held at Bengal Gallery in Dhanmondi, Dhaka on September 30.
Bengal Foundation has been continually working to promote traditional Bangla songs for the last two decades. Besides producing albums the organisation also arranges regular musical programmes throughout the year as well as on special occasions. 'Praner Khela' is a part of this initiative.
With a Nazrul song “Amar Apnar Cheye Apon Je Jon”, Shimu Rani Dey kicked off the programme. The singer also performed several adhunik songs like “Eto Boro Akashtakey Bhorley Jochhonay,” “Bini Shutar Gantha Mala,” “Nodir Jemon Jhorna Thakey” and more at the event.
Sujit Mustafa rendered both Nazrul and adhunik songs at the programme. His repertoire included “Shurey O Banir Mala Diye,” “Tomar Kajol Kesh,” “Mor Priya Hobey Esho Rani,” “Ei Nil Nirjoney,” “Ami Eto Je Tomaye,” “Kotha Kao” and more.
Partha Protim Acharya on keyboard, Taposh Chakraborty on tabla, Ashit Biswas on esraj and Keshab Sarkar on percussion instrumentally assisted the singers.
