Storm injures 15, destroys 50 houses

At least 15 people were injured and 50 houses destroyed as a storm lashed Kuthurikona village under Madan upazila of the district yesterday afternoon.
Of the injured, five were admitted to the upazila health complex in a critical condition.
The five injured were identified as Abdul Hamid, 42, Phool Banu, 35, Fazilatunnesa, 57, Kais Mia, 27 and Rahmat Ali, 45. All hail from Kuthurikona village.
Villagers said at around 3:00pm, a 15-minute storm hit the village, injuring 15 people and destroying at least 50 houses.
Electricity suppliy remained suspended till filing of this report in the evening.
