Rejoinder, our reply

In a rejoinder to our report headlined "20-storey building, Noor Ali admits to crime" published on August 6, Unique Group said the report based on different sources is not informative and is completely confusing.
Singed by Col (retd) ABM Shamsuddoha, director of Unique Group, and tagged with the name of senior reporter Anwar Hasan Babu of Daily Adhinayok, a sister concern of the group, the rejoinder says that Borak Real Estate did not do anything illegal during construction of the building.
"It is therefore absurd for Noor Ali, managing director of Borak Real Estate to confess to any wrongdoings and apologise," reads the rejoinder.
According to the rejoinder, unexpected delay in handing over the one stop service centre/hostel bhaban to Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training was caused because Noor Ali did not compromise with the then government and did not surrender to any undue pressure.
It also reads Borak Real Estate did not take any land in its name. There is no question about selling the government land unlawfully.
OUR REPLY
Our report was based on the briefing of Anisul Islam Mahmud, chief of the parliamentary standing committee on expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry. No anonymous sources were used.
We admit, however, that it was an error on our part not to have contacted Noor Ali for his version of the story.
