BCAS project wins int'l award

A project of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) was awarded the first prize in the category of medium size organisation for the year 2010 by the Flora Family Foundation of USA, says a press release.
The BCAS project was targeted at reducing health risks of the poor and women by increasing their access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation.
Suitable water technologies for the different ecosystems in Bangladesh were developed and water user groups called "Pani Parishads" were formed and demonstrated under the award-winning project.
A short film was prepared documenting the process and outcomes of the project. ICCO, the Netherlands and Christian Aid UK supported the BCAS project.
