Passion for acting

In conversation with Humaira Himu

Humaira Himu is a talented TV actress. She has acted in over 200 TV plays in her four-year long career. In recent times, she has also acted in a film “Amar Bondhu Rashed.” The film is to be released across the country on December 16 this year.
Himu is now busy with Shakal Ahmed's “Choumohol,” Mujibur Rahman Dilu's “Tamasha” and a mega-serial by Kaisar Ahmed. The artiste said about her upcoming film, “Amar Bandhu Rashed”: “The film has been directed by Morshedul Islam, one of the veteran filmmakers of the country. The director is known for his sensitive filmmaking. The film is set against the backdrop of the Liberation War and focuses on children during the war.”
About her favourite roles in recent times, Himu said, “I found my role in “Ghor Kutum” very interesting. The serial had been directed by noted actor-director Salahuddin Lavlu. Jarul from the drama 'Shanto Kutir' was another interesting character. Kulsum is another favourite role from the serial 'Tomar Dowa-e Bhalo Achhi Ma.' It gave me recognition, but I have never considered myself a star. I like losing myself in a character.”
About acting in commercial films, she said, “I will not say no if the offers come from noted filmmakers. The script has to be good. My opinion is that every actor should work at least in one film, as cinema has a lasting impact.”
Talking about her sources of inspiration, Himu said, “I was greatly encouraged to act by Ferdausi Majumdar and Suborna Mustafa.”
