A schoolgirl was killed and another suffered severe burn injuries in two separate stalking incidents in Satkhira and Noakhali districts on Tuesday and yesterday.
In other incidents, a girl has to stop going to school for continual threats given by a stalker in Chapainawabganj while six of a family were beaten for protesting a stalking incident in Sirajganj.
Our Satkhira correspondent reports, a gang of stalkers Tuesday chopped a schoolgirl to death as she spurned the love proposal of a stalker at Atarai village in Tala upazila of the district.
The victim was identified as Asma Khatun, 15, a student of class ten and daughter of Hanif Sardar of the village.
Quoting locals police said Arman Nikari alias Sharbat, 20, of the same upazila used to stalk Asma and propose her on her way to school.
As she refused his proposal, the stalker continued to threaten her.
On the day of the incident, Asma was going to her tutor's house when a gang of three led by Sharbat swooped on her near the jute field at Jiala Nalta village and chopped her randomly, leaving her seriously injured.
Hearing her screams, locals rescued her in a critical condition, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital.
The victim's father filed a case with Tala Police Station accusing three stalkers.
Our Noakhali staff correspondent reports, a teenager girl suffered severe burn injuries as local criminals had thrown acid at her at Motipur village under Noakhali Sadar upazila early yesterday.
Sources said the criminals entered the tin-shed house of Italy expatriate Sourav Hossain, at around 3:00am by digging a hole in its basement and fled away through the door after throwing acid at his daughter Farhana Aktar, 14.
His elder daughter Rowshan Ara, 25, and her four-year old son Masum were also injured as they were sleeping together in a room.
Critically injured Farhana was rushed to Noakhali General Hospital and later was shifted to the Burnt and Plastic Surgery Unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) while Rowshan Ara and her son were given first aids.
According to DMCH sources, Farhana, a student of class VII at Saidul Abbas Mahila Dakhil Madrasa at Char Elehai, received burn injuries on her entire face, throat, chest and abdomen.
Her mother Majeda Begum said she woke up hearing cries of her daughters and grandchild.
Majeda alleged that Sunam, Mahmud, Parvez, Sharif and some other teenager boys had been stalking her two daughters Farhana and Selina Akhter, 16, a student of class X of the same madrasa for the last one year.
Sub-inspector Anwar Hossain of Noakhali Sadar police station said they arrested Rahman alias Manik, the divorced husband of Rowshan, in this connection.
Our Chapainawabganj correspondent reports, a schoolgirl has to stop going to school for continual threats given by a stalker at College Para under Gomostapur upazila of the district.
Locals and family members of the victim said, Rahman, 16, son of Mohsin Ali of Kanchantala village under the same upazila used to tease Kashmira Khatun Rekha, a class six student, on her way to school.
Upon her complaints, an arbitration was held on June 6 night. Rahman's grandfather Sabur Ali submitted a marriage proposal in the arbitration meeting.
But Rekha's guardian and other arbitration members rejected the proposal, as she is underaged.
As the stalker failed to convince Rekha's family, Rahman continued threatening to kidnap or throw acid on her.
Rekha's guardian Aftab Uddin said she cannot go to school since then due to the threats.
In the other incident, at least six people of a family, including two women, were beaten yesterday for protesting a stalking incident at Talupara village under Tarash upazila of Sirajganj.
The injured were identified as Jainob, Shahida, Hafijul, Naser, Wajed and Kamrul.
Sources said Abdur Rauf, son of Delwar used to pester Kamrul's wife Jainob, 18, whenever she went outside her house, reports our Sirajganj correspondent.
At one stage, Jainob brought the matter to the notice of Rauf's father Delwar.
Hearing this, Rauf along with his gang swooped on Kamrul's house and injured all of his family members.
The injured were admitted to Tarash Upazila Health Complex.
