Girl, youth killed in BSF shooting

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) yesterday shot two Bangladeshi nationals, including a child, dead, on Ratnai border under Baliadangi upazila of the district.
The victims were identified as Mojibor Rahaman, 20, son of Sharif Uddin and Parul, 10, daughter of Jasimuddin of the same upazilas.
Other two persons received severe bullet wound at the same time.
Major Muniruzzaman of 20 Rifle Battalion said BSF members of Natuatuli camp allegedly opened fire on a group of herdsmen while they were grazing cattle near the frontier.
He said they also took the body of Mujibor into Indian territory after the incident while three other injured managed to escape.
The injured were Saiful, Khaleda and Parul. They were admitted to upazila health complex where Parul died shortly afterwards.
BDR strongly protested this unprovoked killing and asked its Indian counterpart to return the body of Mojibor.
A flag meeting was held on Ratnai border between BDR and BSF to settle the dispute.
Additional BDR and police forces were deployed to ease the tension prevailing upon the border areas.
