Theatre festival by Padatik ends

The five-day theatre festival "Syed Badruddin Hossain Smriti Natyatshab and Sharok Shommanona 2010" by Padatik Natya Shangshad, TSC ended on April 11, with theatre personality Shimul Yousuf and Mamunur Rashid receiving 'Syed Badruddin Hossain Sharok Shommanona 2010'.
Syed Badruddin Hossain, a noted educationist, columnist and Language Movement veteran, was the president of Padatik till his death on March 24, 2009. The award has been introduced in his memory.
Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The chief guest handed over the crests to the awardees. Professor Jatin Sarkar was present as the special guest. Among others, Hassan Arif, general secretary Shammolito Shangs-kritik Jote; Jhuna Chowdhury, secretary general, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation; M. Hamid, CEO of RTV and Nihad Kabir, convenor of the festival were present at the event.
The award giving ceremony was followed by the staging of "Ebong Bidyasagar" by theatre troupe Aranyak Natya Dal.
The festival which began from April 7, featured performance by five theatre troupes -- Nagarik Natya Sampradaya, Loko Natyadal, Aranyak Natya Dal, the host Padatik Natya Shangshad and Theatre Workshop (from India).
