Life after Miles

Updates on Shafin Ahmed

It's been a while since Shafin Ahmed left the band Miles after being a member for 30 years. What is he up to these days? Let's find out:
Shafin: Currently I am busy on several fronts. I am judging the "Black Horse Golden Key Ebar Tomra Gao" music competition on Rtv. I am also participating in the "Fan Club Tournament" to be aired on Channel i soon. Here each celebrity has a team of five. There are 16 such teams who will compete with each other. I have formed a new band 'Rhythm of Life', with two guitars, bass, keyboard, drums and percussion. I'm on guitar and vocals. We have already done several shows including an open-air concert last Valentine's Day and several TV shows.
Other than these, Rhythm of Life is now busy recording its first album. I'm also the brand ambassador and marketing consultant for the boutique hotel 'Platinum Suites'. So yes, you can say life is pretty hectic!
Unusual hobbies?
Shafin:
I collect concert tickets. I have tickets for most concerts I have been to in the country and abroad. Some of the major acts I've seen and heard live include the late Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Santana, Bryan Adams, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Madonna and Van Halen.
What would you say about the current rock scene in the country? Has it progressed?
Shafin:
Progression is a journey, not a destination. There is some good work being done, but progress never
stops.
Ad-vice to young and upcoming musicians?

Shafin:
Young musicians who are emerging in the music scene should initially try to develop their understanding of eastern and western music styles. They should spend at least two years on that learning process and that learning should never stop. They can then delve into performances and compositions/ arrangements.
Motto?
Shafin:
Winners never quit. Quitters never win.
