Another ship breaking yard worker killed

A worker was killed when a huge steel-plate fell on him in a ship-breaking yard at Bhatiary under Sitakunda upazila in the district early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Subhash Kanti Das, 25, of South Thakurpara at Bhatiary.
Police said a huge steel plate fell on Subhash when he along with other workers was dismantling a ship at Bhatiary Steel, owned by one Jamal Uddin, around 2:30am.
Subhash was rushed to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries around 4:30am, said Sub-Inspector Md Azam Khan of Sitakunda Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection.
