Central Public Library renamed

The government has decided to reinstate the name of Bangladesh Central Public Library to Sufia Kamal National Public Library, undoing the change made by the previous four-party alliance government.
Officials said the cultural affairs ministry has taken the step in line with a cabinet decision taken at a meeting on December 14, 2009 to this effect.
At that meeting, the cabinet had decided that the ministry and departments concerned would take "necessary steps to change the names of government organisations and establishments after proper scrutiny" of the changes made by the four-party alliance government.
The alliance government changed the name of Sufia Kamal National Public Library to Bangladesh Central Public Library in 2004.
