Top outlaw held in Bagerhat

Police yesterday arrested 'operation commander' of outlawed New Biplobi Communist Party (NBCP) from Dumuria upazila of Bagerhat district.
Police said, arrestee Pratap Biswas, 35, who went into hiding after the one-eleven changeover returned to Dumuria last week from India.
Younger brother of NBCP founder Shailen Biswas, Pratap was wanted in several criminal cases including six murders, police said.
Shailen is also wanted in 32 murder and other criminal cases. He fled the country in 2007 in the face of Rab operations, police further said.
Our Correspondent in Pabna reports: Police on Sunday recovered a few posters of an outlawed party from the wall of Chatmohar Upazila Parishad.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chatmohar police station Sayed Shahid Alam said the posters belonging to 'Purba Banglar Sharbahara Party' called to stop crossfire by police and asked the authorities for steps to stop Tipaimukh Dam.
Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Firoz Shah said the matter was discussed at the upazila law and order meeting on Sunday. "We have already asked police to take necessary steps," the UNO said.
