Debate makes people enlightened

Foreign Minister Dipu Moni yesterday said the country's future depends on enlightened people and debate is a tool to make people enlightened.
She said this while inaugurating the Concord - Prothom Alo 3rd Buet Debating Club Debate Championship at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) auditorium.
The minister said, "If we can move on towards our future unitedly we will be able to fulfil our dream of creating a 'Digital Bangladesh."
Debaters become enlightened as they need to know a lot for debating and they always try to think logically, she said.
A total of 105 teams of 12 schools, 16 colleges and 32 universities are participating in the debate competition that will end on December 21.
Buet Vice Chancellor Prof AMM Shafiullah, Mahbubul Haque Shakil, deputy press secretary to the prime minister, and Abdul Quayyum, deputy editor, the daily Prothom Alo, spoke at the inaugural ceremony as special guests while Prof Kabirul Islam, moderator of Buet Debating Club, presided over the programme.
