Saleha Chy gets Anannya Literary Award

This year's Anannya Literary Award went to noted littérateur Saleha Chowdhury.
The writer received the award at a programme at Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum in the city on Sunday.
Dr Anisuzzaman as the chief guest handed over a cheque for Tk 50,000 and a crest to Saleha.
Littérateurs Selina Hossain and Prof Syed Manzoorul Islam were present at the programme as the special guests.
Dr Anisuzzaman said Saleha is active in almost all genres of literature, adding that she possesses immense capacity to her credit and a number of varied cultures from different regions of the world are depicted alive in her writings.
Congratulating the award winner, Selina said the world perspective is depicted in Bangla alphabet through the write-ups of Saleha, the expatriate Bangalee littérateur.
Prof Manzoorul praised her writing style, her uniqueness in writing short stories and novels.
Tasmima Hossain, editor of the Anannya, said the extraordinary write-ups of the female littérateurs of the country should be translated in English and reach the book lovers of other countries.
Bangla Academy can take a lead role in this connection, she added.
A total of 15 women littérateurs, including Nilima Ibrahim, Selina Hossain, Rizia Rahman and Jahanara Imam, have so far received the award.
