Daily Star in last eight

The Daily Star stormed into the quarterfinals of the PEPSI-DRU six-a-side Cricket tournament with all-wicket win over United News of Bangladesh (UNB) at Maulana Bhasani National Stadium yesterday.
Abul Kalam Azad struck an unbeaten 30 to power the defending champions to the target of 60 in 4.3 overs without losing a wicket.
Captain Azad, who was later adjudged man of the match, hit four sixes and one four in his 30-run knock while his opening partner Shamim Ashraf remained unbeaten on 22 that included three boundaries.
Earlier, the holders restricted UNB to 59 for two with Fahad Ferdous scoring highest 16 runs, followed by Sanjoy Gour's 7. The Daily Star takes on Channel i today.
Apart from the Daily Star, Kalerkantha, Jugantor, Bangla Vision, Channel i, Shamokal and Naya Diganta booked their quarterfinal seats beating respective rivals at the same venue.
Kalerkantha (73/3) crashed Diganta TV (31/3) by 44 runs, Jugantor (89/3) routed Amader Aurthonity (57/1) by 32 runs, Bangla Vision (118/3) thrashed Amader Somoy (53/4) by 65 runs, Channel i (23/0) overwhelmed Daily Sangram (21/3) by five wickets, Shamokal (20/1) routed Manab Jamin (19/4) by four wickets, Naya Diganta (47/3) beat New Nation (46/3) by three wickets.
