Mazharul Islam Award introduced

The family members of Prof Mazharul Islam, the first director general of Bangla Academy, poet and folklorist, announced 'Mazharul Islam Kabita Puruskar' for the young poets in the country, says a press release.
They announced the award at the 81st birth anniversary programme of Prof Mazharul at Bangla Academy yesterday with the its Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan in the chair.
The award will be given to one poet every year on the birthday of Prof Mazharul.
For this purpose a cheque of Tk 15 lakh was handed over to Bangla Academy director general. Nurjahan Mazhar, wife of the poet, and their son Chayan Islam MP were present at the programe.
